I absolutely love how there really is an app for everything now. It’s true that some apps can be time wasters but there are a ton that can be super useful for your business to make you more productive, stay focused and continue to grow. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right app for what you need but once you do, it can completely change the way you work. Below are some of my favourite apps that I use on the daily.
I am a huge list person but I have the tendency to make separate lists on my phone, in my planner, in messages and on random pieces of paper. I end up writing things down multiple times, losing my notes and/or not prioritizing properly. Does this sound familiar to you? Luckily one of my husbands corporate clients mentioned the app Trello to us. He told us that once he started using this app he was able to effectively prioritize, delegate tasks and stay on schedule. You can sort your tasks by ‘to do’, ‘in progress’ and ‘finished’ or you can customize it any way you want. I personally have separate lists within the app for my business, home projects and groceries.
From the get go I’ve had Instagram for my business. The difference between now and when I first opened my account is that I am now posting with purpose and my feed looks cohesive, colour coordinated and people know right away what I do. It took me awhile to get to this point as before I was just posting randomly. Plann is an app that was a huge help in the process and I continue to use it everyday. This app allows you to save your favourite hashtags, schedule your posts, and add future photos. My favourite feature is that you can move photos around to plan out what your feed will look like to ensure everything flows nicely together. Since using this app I have saved a lot of time, I’ve been posting more consistently and I am in love with the way my feed looks.
I randomly came across Pocket in the App Store one day and I am so glad I did. Do you ever come across articles that look really interesting or useful but you just don’t have the time to read them? Or maybe you came across one and read it and want to save it for later? This app lets you easily save articles to your Pocket app and you can later access them from any devices that use the app. You can also read the articles whether you are online or offline so it’s perfect for when you are traveling and don’t have wifi. My Pocket app is filled with business advice, tips on minimalism and Montessori learning ideas to try with the kids.
Some people are not motivational quote people. I am not one of those people. I love quotes! I read them and I can view things from a different perspective and they motivate me. I also like that they are highly shareable and many people can relate to them. Wordswag is an app that allows you to combine images with many different fonts for Instagram posts, instagram stories and more. You can use your own photos or there are many different royalty free images and backgrounds to choose from. There are endless possibilities with this app. You don’t even need to use it for quotes. You can use it for creating ads in your highlight reel or for Facebook banners. I personally use it for both but more often for posting quotes to my feed. I tend to use the same background image each time and put my handle at the bottom so that if people share it, others will know where the image came from.
There are so many great podcast apps out there but my favourite is Podcast Republic. It is very user friendly and visually appealing. I’m slowly but surely changing my Netflix watching habits into reading and listening to podcasts. I want to limit my electronics before bed as well as continue to learn about how to better myself and my business. Some of my favourite podcasts include the Goal Digger Podcast, Fat Burning Man and The Smart Passive Income Podcast. If you have any suggestions of any other good podcasts that you like, let me know.
Headspace is an app that provides you with stress relief and relaxation. It teaches you how to meditate and guides you into a sense of calm so that you can re-focus yourself and be present in the moment. This app helps you create a new habit of taking a moment to yourself every so often to refresh your brain – to ‘cleanse your palette’. Over time you will be more effective at managing any stressors that happen to arise. This app really does put you into a positive head space.
Well there you have it. I have shared with you my favourite apps for female entrepreneurs. I would love to hear from you on whether or not you use these apps or if there are any other apps that you would recommend to other entrepreneurs.
